There is always a BEFORE.
My artistic journey began long before the works that would later form a recognizable body of work.
Early influences, my love of nature, my first drawings and experiments are just as much a part of it as my professional life as a psychiatric nurse and my encounters with people.
Over the years, my artistic practice evolved into an exploration of colour and form, the frame and its boundaries, polarities, and the possibilities that emerge between them. The became a central field of experience and artistic creation.
Yet development does not simply mean consciously planning and executing something. Some things emerge without intention and only reveal their significance later.
Works, experiences and thoughts enter into relationship with one another. Earlier works suddenly reveal connections that could not yet be put into words at the time.
This dossier traces my journey through works, projects, texts and personal reflections.
It brings together the history of the works, the questions that have accompanied me, and my present understanding of their development.
It is not a completed biography or a success story smoothed over in retrospect. It is an attempt to make an artistic life visible and readable in its interconnectedness. |
